Manuka honey is highly valued across the world but not just for its rich, smooth taste. Organic Fields manuka honey is from New Zealand and it is a premium quality. This sweetener derived from the manuka bush (which only grows in these southern hemisphere nations) has been touted for its antibacterial and wound healing properties. Methylglyoxal, or MGO for short, is what gives Manuka honey its antibacterial activity. The concentration of methylglyoxal in the Manuka honey determines its MGO rating. The higher the MGO the more valued honey and the higher the level of antibacterial activity in the honey. Our manuka honey is genetically engineered-free and has been tested by independent scientific laboratory for methylglyoxal (MGO).
