Native to the high Andean plateaus, it has been cultivated for over 2,000 years and can survive the harsh weather of the Peruvian Andes above 4,000 meters (m) or 13,123 feet (ft).  Maca root powder is very nutritious, and is a great source of several important vitamins and minerals. Generally, there are three types of maca which are yellow maca, red maca and black maca. Ours is yellow maca, and it is a non GMO product and it is safe to consume as it is food grade. Our product has no added preservatives, sugars and additives. There are also no additional prebiotics, probiotics, or digestive enzymes. Thus, no need to worry about safety. Note that the powder is 100% organic, with no emulsifier/wetting agent that allows the food to dissolve easily.
